Students win 27 Scholastic Art Awards 1/2

Students achieved one of their best collective performances in recent memory.

Students received a total of 27 Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards from students in grades 8 to 12, with plenty of honorable mentions, Silver Keys, and Gold Keys.

“This has been one of the most successful years in the School’s history of participation with Scholastic,” Art Teacher and Director of Innovation and Design Kathryn Lee said. "We are incredibly proud of all of our students."

Scholastic, which released the regional results for Massachusetts last Wednesday, runs among the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious contests.

Isaac Morris '26, who won an honorable mention for expanded art, felt proud about utilizing his skills in a fun and productive way.

"I wouldn't have known about this competition without Ms. Lee, and her encouragement to apply," Morris said. "She really helped me make a compelling submission."

All adjudication is anonymous, as jurors look for works that demonstrate originality, skill, and personal voice.

Zoey Zheng ’25, Ady Jaeckel ’25, and Sabrina Wang ’29, who received gold keys for their art, are automatically qualified for National Awards, including Gold Medal, Silver Medal, and other scholarship awards.

The National Awards results will be posted later in the spring.

Notably, some students worked with art tutors outside of school to prepare them for the contest.

Sabrina Wang ’29, an 8th grade student, received five gold keys and one silver key.

“I wanted to challenge myself because my art skills have grown over the past year,” Wang said.

“My art tutor teaches me some of the basic skills in drawing and print making, so that I can reflect my ideas in the artwork,” Wang said.

Wang hopes to continue her artistic endeavors and hopes that her art can have an impact on more people.

The award-winners and their artworks are shown below.
